MARCH 25—31, 2024

Join Jess & Flavia for seven days, six nights in Peru's beautiful, healing, and grounding Andean highlands.

Your retreat will be a sweet combination of conscious movement and grounded meditation to help you dive deep and reconnect to your truest self. This week includes healing practices such as sound healing and art therapy, and exploring the most notable historic ruins, including Machu Picchu.

Our refuge for the week will be at a quaint healing retreat located in Samadhi Sacred Valley, a sustainable, eco-friendly luxury retreat center nestled in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru. Samadhi is surrounded by native plants, fruit trees and nourished by the deep nature and history of the region.

Amazing local guides will share unique cultural excursions to help us explore their vast history. This trip will culminate in Machu Picchu in the company of a nourishing community practicing yoga, enjoying meals, creating new memories, and exploring Peru's breathtaking beauty.

your guides

Jessica Sandhu and Flavia Jimenez weave indigenous practices, traditional yoga asana and philosophy, meditation, relaxation techniques, and a deep commitment to inclusion to bring you a special offering.

In their own lives and healing journeys, they have authentically created practices that have helped them navigate spaces as women of color in the U.S. Both have a deep belief in a person’s ability to transform and heal and create a more peaceful and easeful life. We will continue our journey on this sacred land in the land of the Incas.

Flavia Jimenez

Flavia came to yoga after graduating from law school in 1999. It was during this period, when she was living in New York City and working with homeless families, that she found a need for the rest and relaxation that yoga provides. Born in Belgium to Argentine and Peruvian parents, she immigrated to the US when she was 8 years old. Her ancestry, both European and indigenous from South America, has created a deep understanding of how colonization, white supremacy, and patriarchal systems can take us away from our sense of worth, happiness, and peace. She now resides on Piscataway Nation land (settled and colonized and known as the state of Maryland).

In 2019, after 18 years of working as a lawyer and advocate in civil rights non-profit organizations for her entire career, Flavia embarked on a journey to become a yoga teacher and a life coach. She found her calling in the healing modalities. In 2014, she was diagnosed with cancer. And in 2017, after a separation and subsequent divorce, Flavia needed to heal and align her body, mind, and spirit. A yoga and meditation retreat in the Sacred Valley in her maternal homeland of Peru in 2019 brought clarity and courage to embark on a path she continues today. She continuously seeks to balance and weave, on and off the mat, action and rest, relaxation and alertness, love and liberation.

Flavia holds a JD from New York Law School and a life coaching certification from Leadership that Works. She received her yoga teaching certificate in 2019 and has a Certificate in Mindful Leadership from Spirit Rock Insight Meditation Center. She is currently focusing her yoga learning on yin and restorative yoga.

Jessica Sandhu

Jessica Sandhu is a Canadian-born healer, somatic coach, and yoga teacher of Anishinaabe First Nations and Punjabi Indian descent.

As an anti-racist healer and teacher, Jess’s goal is to create equity in conference rooms, on the yoga mat, and in coaching sessions. She’s continually aware of who is not in the room and who needs to be.

Since 2001, Jess has practiced various forms of yoga, finally finding a home with Iyengar Yoga in 2003 because its alignment-based principles allowed for more understanding of the pose benefits and how it created a deeper connection to the body.

Jess has dealt with lower back pain throughout the years and found yoga super beneficial in alleviating it. When more yoga was integrated into her life, things seemed less hard, and life actually became more sweet! Less Dukha, More Sukha.

Jess is also a Usui Reiki Master, a health coach, and has been trained in Trauma-Informed yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Yin Yoga.

Jess is committed to becoming a bridge with roots in both the modern and traditional world by honoring the traditional customs of yoga and respecting all Indigenous cultures. Jess resides on the ancestral lands of the Anacostans.
