The 10 Books That Changed My Life! 💫

The other day, I starting thinking about how some people have come into and out of my life. I thought about all of the things I learned while being in relationship to them. All of the things I wished I'd done. All of the things I wish I'd said when I felt like saying it. That can be a whole other conversation for another day...

I then thought about how I came into contact with them. And I started to trail backwards - my whole entire life - a little like pulling a small thread and unraveling my life before my eyes. I wish I could say I was high or something like that but I was simply in an introspective state of mind. In that state, I brought myself all the way back to my childhood when I lived in that small house on Marlene Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

I was always a bit of a solo person. Never wanting anyone to control me or my time. It shows up now still. I'm now ok with it. It's just my nature and I can't fight it - which I used to. But the one thing that I've always appreciated and never fought was reading.

Reading was my savior when things felt impossible. When I felt lonely, I would pick up a book. I would also never feel lonely because I always had something to go to. I remember always running back to my book or carrying my book to appointments or spending time in the library or bookstores as I got older. I was that person walking down the street with a book open and actually appreciated long bus rides in Winnipeg - I always wanted to dig deep into a book then. When a book would finish, I would sit thinking about how awesome that place sounded or how I wanted to be like that person I was reading about. In that space, I was able to form clear images of the life I wanted. It's pretty magical!

So, I wanted to share some of the books that have recently created some monumental shifts in my life. I will talk another day about some of the books I read when I was young. I don't know how I got a handle on some books! They were quite naughty! It was also hard to pick 10. :)
